The Deaf community consists of a diverse group individuals with varied languages (i.e. American Sign Language, English, etc.), affiliations culture, general community, and sociocultural norms (Anderson et al., 2018). Despite evidence higher rates victimization, behavioral health disorders, hazardous drinking among individuals, they remain one the most understudied populations in research 2018;Fellinger 2012). Significant disparities exist access to utilization services due limited information, fear mistrust healthcare settings, cultural linguistic oppression, stigmatization within communication barriers, lack culturally appropriate (Barnett 2011;Fellinger CBT for Treatment Seeking (CBT-TS) has shown promise as an intervention promote use treatment hearing (Stecker 2012), but it is unknown whether would be effective what modifications might necessary increase its accessibility applicability. This paper will present ongoing project funded by NIAAA diversity supplement [R01AA026815-03S1] adapt CBT-TS using ADAPT-ITT model, pragmatic framework adapting evidence-based interventions (Wingood & DiClemente, 2008). first part this involves elicitation interviews members new target population regarding their attitudes beliefs about treatment, facilitators barriers seeking, impact COVID-19 on seeking. second soliciting feedback materials, content, delivery from key stakeholders via pretesting methodology called “theater testing.” Finally, data theater testing sessions combined produce adapted version individuals. background information rationale, plan, progress, initial project. An adaptation benefit historically underserved potentially disorders lower use.
